Drivers know risks, but continue to drive dangerously

o-DISTRACTED-DRIVING-facebook

By now we all recognize the risks of dangerous and distracted driving, but a recent study from AAA suggests we still do it anyway.

The research reveals we don’t believe bad things can happen to us, despite the fact that one in three has a loved one who has been hurt or killed in a crash.

Toronto teen caught stunt driving Nissan GT-R at 240km/h

Capture

A Toronto teen is in trouble after being caught flexing the muscles of a black Nissan GT-R last Monday night.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, the teenager was travelling 140km/h over the speed limit on highway 407 near Weston road around 10:30 pm. The driver of the speeding vehicle,Vince Lisi, 18, of Kleinburg is facing rather serious charges that include stunt driving, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to surrender a driver’s licence.

The stunt driving teenage driver has since had his Nissan GT-R impounded immediately and his licence suspended for seven days.

Just a few weeks before the incident Lisi posted a photo of his vehicle on Twitter followed by the comment “here come the speeding tickets”.

In Ontario, someone caught going 50 km/h or more over the limit by police faces an automatic six demerit points, road-side vehicle seizure and an immediate seven day licence suspension with additional suspension (of up to two years) upon conviction.

The 18-year-old driver can also face a fine between $2,000 to $10,000 – but something tells me it won’t be long before the reckless driver is back behind the wheel of the $100,000 supercar.

Toronto speed traps called out

ontario_speed_trap

If you find yourself in the Greater Toronto Area anytime soon, you may want to slow down a bit.

Why road rage exists

It’s not just Asians that can’t drive. It’s everyone.

On the road, it seems people transform into a bunch of inconsiderate pricks that forget the basic lessons we’re taught as kids – like how to share and wait in a line.

Not a single day goes by that I don’t encounter drivers on my commute that make me question the licensing system in the province of Ontario.

Honestly, I’ve seen kids at the Sega City go karts maneuver a motor vehicle better. I don’t know if these people are simply ignorant of how much they fail at driving, or if they just don’t care. Either way, the things I see these people do out on the road make me wish I had an automatic machine gun and rocket launcher attached to the front of my car. Aside from the inconvenience to me and other road users, this kind of inconsiderate driving is flat out dangerous and pisses the hell out of everyone.
